OPEN 12:00-6:00PM DAILY

  • Island of Hawaii

Cultural Presentation Times( Approx.)
1:00 · 3:30 · 4:30 · 5:30

Play ancient games, dance with grace, learn how to fish without a net and sample poi (come on, we dare you!) Live the spirit of aloha in Hawaii.

He la nani keia la (today is a beautiful day)

Hawaii speaks in rhythms: The strumming of a ukulele, the pounding of poi, the movement of a grass skirt. The warmth you feel in your heart as you visit our beautiful island home is what we call aloha.

Cultural Presentations:  20-minute presentations offered throughout the day

What you’ll experience:

In the Hawaiian Village, you can experience our culture through site, sound, smell and touch. Talented villagers share the beauty of the islands through dance and song while hula lessons are provided throughout the day under a magnificent shade tree. Next, try your hand at our ancient Hawaiian games. Demonstrations are also interactive as you taste freshly prepared poi, and discover the art of tapa weaving. Even the village itself is a testament to Hawaiian ingenuity as you witness how the sky, land and sea work in harmony.

Talk to a Villager:

The Polynesian Cultural Center is proud to share the culture and spirit of our host nation, Hawaii with the world. Our villagers are honored to answer questions and share their rich background. Come, sit down and “talk story” with us!

  • Island of Aotearoa

Learn the significance of Maori tattoos, test your dexterity by playing with twirling poi balls, and watch the Maori warrior dance known as, “the Haka.”

Ko te ahurei o te tamaiti arahia o tatou mahi  (Let the uniqueness of the child guide our work).

The Maori of New Zealand have built their culture around the strength of family. Here in the village of Aotearoa you will marvel at the power of love.

Cultural Presentation:  20-minute presentations offered throughout the day

What you’ll experience:

Your Maori experience begins as you are formally welcomed to the village, and deepens as you listen to our harmonic songs and feel the power of the Haka, a Maori war dance. You can test your agility (or lack thereof) by learning ancient games of skill still taught to Maori school children. Next, watch our skilled artisans carve some deadly looking weapons, discover some of the more interesting cooking and food preservation methods (dried and oiled bird sound good to you?) and learn about a type of facial tattoo that was definitely only for the brave!

Talk to a villager:

The Polynesian Cultural Center is proud to share the culture and spirit of The Land of the Long White Cloud (Aotearoa) with the world. Our villagers welcome your questions and the opportunity to tell the stories of their beloved ancestral home.

Feel the beat, honor the chief, gaze upon a Fijian skyscraper, and learn why their warriors are mighty and feared. Find your strength in Fiji.

“Na bula e vaka oqo – So na gauna draki vinaka, so na gauna draki ca” (life is like this – Sometimes sun, sometimes rain)

The Fijian culture is a unique combination of amusement, sincerity and etiquette where formality begins with the language and villagers are all considered family.

Cultural Presentation:  20-minute presentations offered throughout the day

What you’ll experience:

Feel the power as Fijian warriors give you an enthusiastic welcome while the women entertain with traditional dance. Then get your Fijian groove on pounding a derua (bamboo stick.)  You can also learn how to be a time traveler in Fiji by stepping from here to there! Confused? It will all make sense in the Fijian Village where you can learn how to make coconut oil, get a tattoo (temporary style, of course) and gaze up, up, up at the awe inspiring 6 story temple. While you’re there, make sure to locate the chief’s home. Just be careful. Entering the wrong door can become an international incident!

Talk to a villager:

Don’t worry – the Fijians aren’t all fight. In fact, they are a warm and caring people with some exciting tales to share. There’s lots to learn, and lots to share in Fiji!

O le ala I le pule o le tautua” (the path to authority and leadership is through service)

The people of Samoa know how to have fun, in fact, their sense of humor is well known throughout Polynesia. But the root of that wit is based on love, respect, and generosity.

Cultural Presentation:  20-minute presentations offered throughout the day

What you’ll experience:

If you like to laugh – a lot – come see one of the Center’s most popular cultural presentations where you will learn how to crack open a coconut using a small rock, marvel as our strong young men climb 40-foot coconut trees in their bare feet and see what happens when you combine fire and sharp weapons. Speaking of fire, can you start one with two sticks? In Samoa, yes you can! You can also learn how to twirl a fire knife, weave a fish and cook bananas. As you stroll through our village, take a moment to notice how the unusual domed shaped buildings are constructed without nails and how they create their own natural air conditioning.

Talk to a villager:

The Samoans are known as ‘the happy people’, so pull up a log and have some laughs with our villagers. Come on, get happy!
