Manchester River Cruises
Manchester River Cruises is owned and run by Graham Salt. With over twenty years of experience you can be sure that whether you are looking for a party boat, a corporate venue with a difference or a going to see a Manchester United match you will have an unforgettable time.
Princess Katherine with an overall length of 65ft, a 15ft beam and a draft of 4ft 6in, provides fixed seating around tables for a maximum of 120 passengers. Its certificate licenses it as ‘a ship plying in smooth waters’, although the craft is very stable in the sometimes choppy conditions on the exposed sections of the canal.
Although its all-steel hull dates only from 1988, it is powered by a reconditioned 1952 Manchester-built Gardener 6LW 8.5 litre diesel engine; its smooth 94hp propels the boat at a maximum speed of 11 knots. Those used to sailing inland will appreciate that this breakneck speed is ideal for the 100 – 200ft width of the waters (boat wash isn’t a problem), and to ensure a speedy and reliable service.
The Princess Katherine is moored in the Salford Quays near the Lowry Center, overlooked by MediaCity UK.
Let Manchester River Cruises make your next event unforgettable. Whether you are looking to get the party started with a bang or you want to impress clients with a corporate drinks event the Princess Katherine is a venue with a difference. On a Manchester canal cruise you will set sail on the Manchester Ship Canal from the Salford Quays and have a choice of different routes. The Princess Katherine is the largest leisure barge in the Salford Quays and has indoor and outdoor seating for 90+ guests.
