Asda Foundation grant funds new minibus for Cerebral Palsy Midlands
There were smiles all round when our Barnes Hill store’s community champion Katey Titley handed over the keys to a new minibus to Cerebral Palsy Midlands.Katey volunteers with the charity each week and helped secure a £15,000 donation from the Asda Foundation to pay for the minibus.Sarah Lilly, Development Officer at Cerebral Palsy Midlands, said the minibus will help members of staff transport people to GP appointments, do the shopping, go on trips and get to and from the Cerebral Palsy Midlands centre.
She said: “We really are grateful to have our new minibus. Everyone here knows what a difference it will make to the lives of the people we support.“We met Katey for the first time at our community fete and fundraiser last year when she came in to volunteer for the day. She loved what we were doing and how we reached out to those with disabilities in the community.
“Since then she’s been a regular supporter and volunteer for our charity and that has led us to being able to apply for the Asda Foundation grant.” Katey said: “The group were absolutely overjoyed to pick up the minibus. Every Friday I help out at the centre and support their community events, and I was so pleased to help them receive the Asda Foundation donation.”
