Antiquing For a Mid-Century Modern Enthusiast

Hello all, and thanks for your time and consideration. 🙂

I was hoping that the forum might be able to steer me toward antiques of the mid-century-modern (MCM - 1950's and 1960's) variety. It's normal to find such items mixed in here and there, but due to recent demand, there are also some shops that do most of their business specifically in that genre.

We'll be staying along the Maine coast for 8 days this summer - 4 days near Freeport and 4 days on Mt. Desert Island.

Thank you and happy travels!

Try the Big Chicken Barn in Ellsworth on Routes 1/3. They seem to have a lot of everything and you will go by it on your way to MDI. Good luck.

Not specifically MCM, but the Montsweag Flea Market on Rt. 1 between Woolwich and Wiscasset dedicates Wednesdays to antiques and gets quite a lot of business. The professional buyers show up early though, so if you snooze you lose.

There are also several antique houses in Wiscasset within a block or so of Rt.1 that would make an entertaining break from a long day's driving.
