My only experience with Indian food is Chicken Tikka Masala made at the dining hall on campus.

So yeah. That.

As unintuitive as it may seem, Chicken Tikka Masala is a actually a thoroughly British dish. Not really Indian food

Could you elaborate?

it is a dish that uses many spices that are common to Indian cuisine, but it isn't Indian food. It was invented in Scotland and is generally accepted as British cuisine. You can read it all in the wiki

Ah, I see. It was invented in Scotland but probably by a cook of South Asian descent. Thank you!

While I love basically all Indian food, my favorite is just the basmati rice. The best curry in the world is only as good as the rice it's served with. But as for a real dish, I think my favorites are dosas.

Being Indian, this thread warms my heart, but I have to regretfully admit that when it comes to basmati rice I think Persians do it better. I don't know if it's saffron, ghee or what. Their rice is just incredible.

My favourite Indian food is Indian food. When we eat out at a restaurant the favourites are butter chicken, lamb rogan josh, pork vindaloo (has to be super hot), Kashmiri chicken, aloo gobi, goat biriyani cooking at home we make aloo gobi, mungbean and potato curry, channa dhal, chicken and cashew curry (the book I use uses english names). You know, this question is just too hard. DOSAS. I forgot - dosas are also my favourite.
