Trip with my mother

I am a 21 year old male taking my 58 year old mother on a trip as a birthday present. I've been saving for years for this, and want to make this trip as memorable for her with the remaining budget I have. Here is some information: Flight and hotel is already booked. She can not swim at all. We are arriving on a Tuesday afternoon and leaving on a Sunday night. I have about $700 and she has $1000 saved. We are staying at the Sheraton on Waikiki beach.

Do you already have a hotel and plane tickets or does that have to come out of the 1700 you both have as well?

No I have hotel and flights booked, that is for spending, I'll edit the post.

This is totally irrelevant but I wanted to let you know that I loved your review of Everything, Everything. The post is archived so I couldn’t post it. Please make more crappy movie reviews in the future

Thanks! I'm going to see Strangers: Prey at Night on Tuesday, so depending on how that one is, I just might.

Our most popular hikes with great views would be Makapuu Lighthouse, Lanikai Pillbox, Diamondhead, and Koko Head

i would not take a 58 year old of questionable athletic ability up anything more strenuous than diamondhead. definitely not pillboxes or koko head.

Hmmm... you're probably right. Diamondhead and Lanikai are similar in difficulty, no? Maybe doing the Makapuu hike and sticking with the lookout points would be a better idea.

diamondhead is way longer but it's gradual until you get to the stairs, which of course you can bypass now, pillboxes first part where you are holding onto ropes and trees... yeah... i wouldn't suggest that to a 58 year old mom.

You're right. Taking her age into account, the first part of Lanikai would probably be difficult, if not outright dangerous. Edited my post.
